Kalliope Reed Quintet records first album!
With support from the Sparkplug Foundation, the Boston Woodwind Society, and Polyphony Artists, the Kalliope Reed Quintet is thrilled to have recorded their first album, featuring entirely original reed quintets! Included in this first album is Amaru by Daniel Cueto, Divergences by Zach Gulaboff Davis, Suite for Reed Quintet by Ian Wiese, This by Francine Trester, False Awakening by Daniel Burwasser, and Seven Colored Earth by Daniel Baldwin. The album is in it’s final processing stages and expected for release in early 2022. We look forward to recording more original reed quintets in our second album later in 2022!
Kalliope starts 2022 with their first Spring Season!

New works commissioned for 2022-2023
In the last two years the Kalliope Reed Quintet has commissioned 15 new works for reed quintet, premiering 11 of them in their 2020 and 2021 summer seasons. They remain steadfast in their goal to expand and diversify the repertoire of the reed quintet, and have an additional commissions completed or underway from Jenni Brandon, Oliver Caplan, Charles Daniels Torres, Charles Murrell III, Panagiotis Liaropoulos, Becky Turro, and more. They look forward to premiering several of these new works in their 2022 spring and summer seasons!
Kalliope Presents concert of all Greek premieres!
Identifying with our Greek name and recognizing Greek-American heritage month, Kalliope will present an (almost) entirely Greek program! After an arrangement of Ravel’s Entrance of the Muses (Kalliope is one of the nine Greek muses), we will jump into the all-Greek program featuring the world premieres of three Boston-based Greek composers: Calliope by Panagiotis Liaropoulos, The Sunrise by Anastasios Panos, and the American premiere of Interface by Calliope Tsoupaki.
